We know how to throw a party! We’ve been doing this since 1809….there is ALWAYS something to do when you come to Madison. There are home tours, music events, garden tours, holiday events, arts/crafts shows, 5Ks, car shows, food & wine tastings – just to name a few.
Our largest events include RiverRoots Music and Folk Arts Festival, Madison Regatta, Madison Ribberfest BBQ & Blues, Madison Chautauqua Festival of Art, Soup, Stew, Chili & Brew Festival and Nights Before Christmas Candlelight Tour of Homes.
As part of the NEA’s Read Across America campaign, Village Lights will host our annual 24-hour reading marathon and children’s book drive to promote literacy and benefit The Clearinghouse. The marathon will kick off with an aloud reading for kids of The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss. Rock ‘n’ Read has become a Madison favorite. So run, don’t walk, to Village Lights to sign up for one or more 30-minute intervals to sit in a rocking chair in our front window and silently read books, your own or borrowed from our shelves. We are collecting donations of gently read or new children’s books, which will be distributed by The Clearinghouse to charities in the region. Bring them in and drop them in the basket on our front table beginning Saturday, March 4th. Those wishing to purchase their donations at Village Lights will receive a discount.
