A Taste of Ireland

A Taste of Ireland
March 1, 2014 Visit Madison

Are you ready for another night on the town, well. how about several nights.  Mark Jones and our Celtic Society is sponsoring: St. Paddy’s Party at St. Mike’s on the 7th; Waking Ned Devine at the Ohio on the 11th; A Celtic Symposium at the Library on the 12th; A Taste of Ireland on the 14th; and An Irish tea at the Shrewsberry-Windle house on the 16th.

Since I am working on the Taste of Ireland, I can give you a preview of the fun on Friday night (just don’t tell any leprechauns).  The Visitors Center has passports available for the evening taste;  plus there will be Road Bowling again down the alleys starting at the Madison Courier office (that’s a picture of Melinda Acree, an accomplished Road Bowler), you will be entertained by Tom Pommerehn on the Irish Tin Whistle and Kevin Carlson on the guitar; and a troupe of Irish dancers will be on the Trolley and various venues as we shuttle you from place to place.

Okay, let’s talk about food now.  You have the luxury of going around to the venues by yourself or we will have two seatings to take groups and friends around..either way the trolley will be making the rounds so you won’t have to drive.  Here is what you will enjoy on Friday evening: Some of Starr Heiliger’s pastry treats at Dittos with Jerry and Richard; Steve and Elizabeth’s famous Dublin Coddle at the Thomas Family Winery; a Guinness at Electric Lady (Jeff has it on tap); Shepherds Pie at Francos with Alberto, Mey, and Franco; a lite snack at the Old Market on Main where Cory and Alex are working up something special and I bet we will have some Irish coffee; an Irish brew at the River Boat Inn with Kathy; an Irish cabbage dish with Nick at Bistro One; and then relax with some coffee and Irish Apple Cake with Peggy, Jeff and Dawn at 115 Gallery.  Whew, I am exhausted just thinking about the evening and the best part it is only $40 per person and we pick you up and take you to the venues…almost as good as kissing the Blarney Stone, eh?

Check in with the Visitors Center, get a passport, and support all our LOCAL BUSINESSES and most of all ENJOY.
