A Vision in Black and White

September 5, 2012 By VisitMadison Leave a Comment

Have you ever imagined yourself in the cast of a Hollywood movie?

How about one of those black-and-white spectaculars where tuxedoed men escort elegantly costumed ladies down the sweeping curved staircase?

If you ever wished you could dress for cocktails with Carey Grant or Rita Hayworth, the Lanier Mansion’s Black and White Party is for you.

The gala will be held on the south lawn of the Lanier Mansion State Historic Site from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8. Decorations will be from Hollywood’s Golden Age. Everyone is encouraged to wear “black and white with a touch of Hollywood.”

The Madisonians will play 1940s swing and jazz music as everyone enjoys a beverage from the wine and beer cash bar. One of Madison’s most popular party caterers, Paradise Cove, will provide the hors de’oeuvres – all black and white, of course.

This September event is part of Madison’s Arts Month. The Black and White Party is Madison’s greatest venue to see and be seen. Previous gatherings have produced some stunning and unusual costumes. With a little preparation and some Hollywood dazzle, you too can be the toast of the town.

Tickets, including one free drink ticket, are $30 per person. Proceeds benefit the Lanier Foundation. Reservations are required, so call 812-273-0556 if you want to attend.
