City of Madison Independence Day Celebration

Enjoy a stay in Madison, Indiana and celebrate our ‘Independence Day Celebration’! Shops and restaurants are open and ready, and the beautiful riverfront sky will be lit with our annual fireworks show at dusk. Stay tuned for a list of businesses offering specials.

Bello’s: XL 3 topping pizza for $15.
Galena Garlic Company: Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Offering samples, 5/$30 Spices & Blends, and 3/$45 Oils & Balsamics.
Hinkle’s: Open until at least 12 a.m. on the 4th.
Historic Broadway Hotel and Tavern: Hosting a Broadway Block Party from 2 p.m.-11 p.m.
Mad Paddle Brewery: 20% off 32 oz Mason Jar or 32 oz Crowler. 30% off when you provide a clean Growler. Saturday Night Music – Charlie & Margo from 7:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Madison Music Movement: Mulberry Street will be closed for a block party. Featuring live music and possibly food trucks. Details are still being finalized.

Old Tyme Marketplace: Hosting a “Celebrate Your Freedom” store event. Hotdogs, flags, and cookies will be given away while supplies last.

Extra precautions will be put in place to ensure our community can safely enjoy this celebration by adding restrooms and hand-washing stations along the entire riverfront and installing hand sanitizer stations along Main Street. Additional picnic tables will also be placed in our riverfront parks to allow for the community to enjoy carryout or picnics by the Ohio River. Lawn chairs and coolers are welcome. We recommend people leave their pets at home.

Starting at noon on July 4th, Vaughn Drive from Ferry Street to Vernon Street, West Street from Vaughn Dr. to W. First Street, and Central Ave from Vaughn Dr. to W. First Street will be closed to through traffic. This area will be reserved for pedestrians only. Broadway Street from Vaughn Drive to the Brown Gym will be closed starting at noon to through traffic and will be reserved as a golf cart parking only area. Handicap parking will be reserved at the north end of Bicentennial Park. The City boat ramp will remain open until 5:00 p.m.

*IMPORTANT: Please note that the firework show is contingent on the county entering Stage 5 of Governor Holcomb’s plans. On July 4th crowd restrictions are set to be lifted; however, social distancing guidelines should continue to be followed. Please stay with members of your household and remain considerate of others around you.
