Visit Madison, Inc. proudly presents three signature annual events that have become beloved traditions in Madison, Indiana, drawing visitors from near and far. These events, made possible through the dedication of our event coordinators, committees, and hundreds of passionate volunteers, showcase the very best of our community—history, hospitality, and unforgettable experiences.
For decades, these festivals have been cornerstones of Madison’s cultural and tourism scene, offering unique opportunities to celebrate our rich heritage, vibrant downtown, and welcoming spirit. At the end of September each year, Madison’s National Landmark Historic District welcomes thousands of visitors during the two-day Madison Chautauqua Festival of Art. Come and experience Southern Indiana’s premier outdoor juried arts & crafts festival featuring approximately 175 exhibitors. This festival is free to the public and designed for the whole family to enjoy, although pets do need to remain home.
In addition to the fine artists and craftsmen showcasing their handmade work, the festival features continuous live entertainment, a riverfront food fest, kid’s activities, and an entertainment garden with local craft beer and wine available.
Madison Chautauqua Festival of Art is a non-profit organization operating under the umbrella of Visit Madison, Inc. For the last 50 years, a committee of volunteers and coordinators have worked hard to ensure this festival has something for everyone. Along with them, hundreds of volunteers, City of Madison employees, and the Mayor of Madison work together to make the entire Chautauqua weekend a success.

Along with the event coordinator and the committee, hundreds of volunteers and Visit Madison employees also work together to make this event a festive holiday tradition.
Get ready for two days of finger-lickin’ BBQ and smokin’ hot blues at Madison Ribberfest in beautiful Madison, Indiana! This award-winning festival brings together world-class blues musicians, mouthwatering barbecue, and a whole lot of fun along the scenic Ohio River the second weekend of August each year.
Enjoy live performances from nationally recognized artists, indulge in some of the best slow-smoked barbecue around, and experience the thrill of the Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) sanctioned cook-off, where top pit masters compete for BBQ glory.
Beyond the music and food, Ribberfest features plenty of entertainment, including a backyard grilling competition, food and merch vendors, and activities for the whole family.

Madison Ribberfest BBQ & Blues Festival of Art operates under the umbrella of Visit Madison, Inc. for the last 23 years. Their committee, event coordinator, and dozens of volunteers work year-round to bring this festival to the banks of the Ohio each year.
