Art is an important part of Madison, as we are 1 of 12 Cultural Districts in Indiana. We are home to numerous galleries filled with local & regional art representing diverse artistic styles and many of our local cafes, stores, restaurants, and wineries feature changing exhibits throughout the year.
Whenever we have the chance, we like to showcase our artists and craftsmen during festivals and special events. Madison Chautauqua Festival of Art is southern Indiana’s premier open-air juried fine arts & crafts show held on the last full weekend of September.
Madison has long been a tourism destination known for its natural and built beauty, boasting over 200 years of historic architecture. It is an inspirational place that invites artists from all over to tell their story with their art.
A large portion of this inspiring art can be viewed FOR FREE with our many public murals. Our vast collection of local murals will certainly brighten up any social media feed; be sure to bring your camera and your best smile!
