The Science Center
The Hanover College Science Center, dedicated in 2000, is a $23 million facility that houses all five of the college’s natural science departments under one roof. Located on Hanover College’s campus in Hanover, Indiana, the center is designed to foster interdisciplinary collaboration among students and faculty.
One of the center’s notable features is its natural history museum, which includes a variety of displays such as colorful minerals, rare and unusual fossils, art and cultural exhibits, and a butterfly collection. Visitors can take self-guided tours to explore these exhibits.
A highlight of the museum is a life-size skeletal cast of “The Burning Tree Mastodon,” recognized as the world’s most complete American mastodon. This impressive display stands 10 feet tall and stretches 20 feet in length, offering visitors a unique glimpse into prehistoric life.
The Science Center and Museum are open throughout the college’s academic year with the following hours:
- Monday–Thursday: 8 a.m.–8 p.m.
- Friday–Saturday: 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
- Sunday: 12 p.m.–5 p.m.
These facilities provide both the college community and the public with opportunities to engage with scientific exhibits and educational resources.
