Key West Shrimp House

February 20, 2014 By admin Leave a Comment

What can you say about the KWSH, the service, food and ambiance is consistently great for over 41 years. During a visit this week we had a tough decision to make… where to sit…enjoy the view of the ice floating down the Ohio River or sit beside the cozy fire place.  Okay, Kay Lou made the fireplace decision for me.  What a relaxing atmosphere whether you are there with a special person, a table full of friends or 25 friends dining together for a relaxing meal.

After your table location has been determined, you can now decided what you would like to drink with your meal.  There is a great selection of domestic and imported wines, beer and mixed drinks. Since I am a beer lover, I enjoy Scott’s variety of craft beers and especially his beers on tap.  Tonight I decided on his Agave Wheat Beer.

My next decision was my entrée;  fish, chicken, steak, oysters, shrimp? Scott & Susan had introduced a new entrée, Blackened Jambalaya Pasta as the evening special…wow, how could I resist?  Shrimp, chicken, sausage and pasta all in one.  Must be a man-thing, eh?

A wonderful feature of the KWSH is that while you are waiting for your entrée, you can visit the salad bar with over 30 items to choose from; of course, I always include the delicious beets.

Be sure to save room for their wonderful desserts, many times at noon you will find Susan preparing special desserts in the kitchen herself.  Some of my favorite would include the Key Lime Pie or the Bread Pudding smothered in tummy warming whiskey sauce. There you go…get out, enjoy our local cuisine, relax and support our local merchants.
