Registration: To participate in this contest and be included on the Merry Madison Holiday Lights Map, an entry form showing intent to participate must be submitted no later than 5PM on Thursday, November 12, 2020. Forms may be completed online at www.visitmadison.org, emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org, or mailed to Visit Madison, Inc. • 601 W. First Street • Madison, IN 47250.
Who Can Enter: Businesses, organizations, churches, clubs, school groups, etc. located in Jefferson County, Indiana.
Deadline for Decorating: Entries need to be decorated and lit by 6 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2020.
Decorating Requirements: Entries will be judged on “curb appeal.” Indoor decorations will not be included in the judging unless they can be viewed from outside. All entries must remain lit and/or decorated from November 13-December 31, to promote Madison as a holiday attraction and shopping destination.
Judging: A panel of judges with no direct ties to the planning organizations or entrants will examine all displays between November 13-25, 2020. Entries will be judged and winners chosen on the following categories: Clark Griswold Award (best use of excessive lights and decorations), Classic Christmas (best represents the spirit of the holiday), and People’s Choice Award (awarded to the entry with the most “likes” on its photograph when posted in a Facebook album during the judging window.
Announcement of Winners: Winners will be announced at Light Up Madison on Friday, November 27, 2020.
Awards: Three $250 awards will be given, one for each award category.
Pictures: A picture of your business/organization will be posted in a Facebook album for judging for the People’s Choice Award. If you would like to submit your own picture, please email it to email@example.com on or before November 13, otherwise a Visit Madison staff member will take a photo of your business for the Facebook album.
Special Notice: Registration gives consent for your business/organization address to be listed on the Merry Madison Holiday Lights Map, photos to be taken of your business/organization and posted in the Facebook album and used by Visit Madison, Inc.
