The Collection of Joeyg

November 21, 2012 By admin Leave a Comment

Joe Gayles, “Joeyg,” was a true supporter of the arts in Madison. With Joeyg’s restaurant and nightclub he created an environment where musicians could play live original music. It is also a place for visual artists to display their work, and Joey supported many of the local artists that he showcased in his nightclub by purchasing artwork from them.

Over the years he amassed an impressive collection of local art. Now is your chance to see some of these pieces if you missed them the first time around. Curator Patty Cooper-Wells has arranged for a number of pieces from Joey’s personal collection to be on display now through December at Joeyg’s. It is a diverse collection of work and speaks to the variety, talent and creativity we have right here in Madison.

It looks like Joeyg’s will continue on with Cheri g now behind the wheel. I look forward to more great music and art to emanate from the brick building at 218 E. Main St. and enrich our community.
