Moving to Madison?

Madison welcomes all people from any walk of life: from young professionals just starting their way in the world to seniors looking for that small-town way of life, Madison has something for everyone! As a quaint and tight-knit river town with a population of just over 11,000, there truly is no better place to call home. Centrally located between the metro areas of Indy, Cincy, and Louisville, Madison is ideally situated along the Ohio River to stay close enough to big-city living. Quality of place and quality of life – Madison has the best of both worlds!

Come for a visit, stay for a lifetime.

Madison may be a small town, but we have big town personality! With over twenty annual festivals and live music almost every night earning Madison the title of Indiana’s Music City, there is always something happening around town. Creativity is cultivated in our community: we are one of twelve of Indiana’s Arts & Culture Districts. Madison also stands out on a national level as the largest contiguous Historic Landmark District in the United States. Lovers of art, music, outdoors, and history flock to our community to visit and more often than not Madison captures their hearts and becomes their home away from home. Pet Parents

Pet Friendly Madison

Allow us to paint you a picture: You wake up on a Saturday morning, grab your furry friend and set off for a trek along Main Street. While you’re out, you might grab a coffee or tea from your favorite café to add an extra pep to your step. Along the way, you’ll surely stop in to shop at one of Madison’s many pet-friendly locally-owned stores for some retail therapy. Swinging by the Farmers Market on Broadway on the way home is a must! Peruse through the wide assortment of fresh, locally-grown produce (and maybe even find a treat for Fido!). Then make your way down to play fetch at Madison’s community dog park. That’s our idea of starting the weekend off right!

Now that we’ve set the stage, pet owners can rest easily knowing that their furry friends will be warmly welcomed in Madison! As very walkable community, you’ll be able to bring your pooch along with you on a stroll through Hanover College or Madison’s river front. With such picturesque scenery, you’ll want to be sure you have your camera handy to snap some shots of your adventures! For more information on how Madison loves furry friends, check out our pet-friendly itinerary and shops. More and more businesses become pet-friendly, but if you need a quick reference, look for the doggie icon in our Experience Madison Guide.
