Tomorrow is again the 4thFriday Art Jam in downtown Madison, featuring music and art in the streets, and after-hours shopping. Friday’s weather forecast looks beautiful, and I am sure to be out with my family, taking it all in, until my daughter’s bedtime.
In addition to the normal fare, there will also be a special live broadcast from Gallery 115 by Cincinnati-based radio station The Doo Wop Café.
It’s “Rockabilly / Doo Wop” night at the gallery, and it will go late into the night. Festivities will start at 7 p.m. with live Rockabilly and Doo Wop from Madison’s own musicians, Chip Binzer, Eric Phagan, Rick Bennett and more. The Café in the gallery will be serving 1950’s soda fountain themed food such as: Coney dogs, coke floats, soft pretzels and snow cones. It is a family-friendly event, and the theme night includes vintage cars, which will be parked out front.
Following the rockabilly show, The Doo Wop Café Radio will broadcast live from the gallery from 9 to 11pm. The Doo Wop Café Radio is “dedicated to preserving the vocal group harmony music of the 1950’s and 1960’s,” and has an international audience with its online stream.
So, I hope there will be a great turn out for 4th Friday Art Jam this month, but if you can’t make it down to hear the broadcast at Gallery 115 in person, you can listen online at www.doowopcafe.net
