Take a Kid Fishing – Big Oaks NWR

 7:00am and on Refuge opens, check in at the office, safety briefing (if you haven’t had one this year)

7:30-Noon Register at shelter near Old Timbers Lake dam 

10:30am – 1:30pm FREE lunch and drinks will be available at the shelter area, sponsored by the Big Oaks Conservation Society, Walmart, and RKO Enterprises. Activity booths will start: archery tent, make a cane pole, reptile tent. 

*Families are welcome to stay and fish at the lake until 3pm 

3:00pm Depart lake by 3pm and checkout at gate 

3:30pm Refuge Gate and Refuge office closes 

• Drive time to the lake is 30 minutes. Plan enough drive time to and from the lake to exit the refuge no later than 3:30pm. 
• All activities will be administered from the shelter area unless otherwise noted. 
• FREE raffle drawing for prizes. Prizes awarded in two age categories, under 11 and 11-15. 
• Extra fishing poles are available if you do not have one. 
• FREE fishing bait (courtesy of DMF, SCC Bait & Tackle, & Grandpa’s Live Bait) can be picked up at the shelter area. 
• Prizes provided by RKO Enterprises, Bass Pro, Walmart, and the Big Oaks Conservation Society. 
• FREE FISHING day!! No fishing licenses required when accompanying a kid (15 and under).
