Another Chautauqua weekend has come and passed; this year came with beautiful weather and a very large crowd!
With the diverse group of exhibitors: everything from jewelry, rugs, paintings, to handmade crafts, the eye never ceased to be dazzled. Add the several festive music acts to that, and it was impossible to not get caught up in the ambiance.
The Chautauqua reminds our community of all the great artists we have here locally, and how available Fine Art and Crafts are in Madison all the time! After all, Madison is one of only ten other Hoosier communities that is designated as an “Indiana Arts & Cultural District!”
It seems there are always more and more talented artists coming to Madison along with new galleries opening up! Check out our Experience Guide page to see all of the art galleries Madison has to offer. We are very fortunate to have the Madison Area Arts Alliance that keeps arts & culture alive and well in our community. They are responsible for several murals and art installations throughout Madison and Jefferson County, including the “Switchbox Project” and the Kindness Mural! If you were searching for a present for a friend at the festival, but didn’t see exactly what you wanted, you’re in luck! Madison is home to a plethora of specialty shops open year round that sell many unique items that you can’t find just anywhere. Christmas will be here before we know it, and our Downtown Main Street shopping district is the perfect place to start your holiday shopping!
It’s great to give something unique that you can’t find anywhere else. And it feels great knowing that you’re supporting our community and people in it!
Chautauqua comes and goes, but great art is always here! Happy shopping!
