As the weather gets warmer and we inch closer to summer, Memorial Day Weekend is fresh on everyone’s mind! When planning your long weekend, why not head to Madison? Centrally located between Indianapolis, Louisville, and Cincinnati, we make a perfect regional getaway! So what’s going on Memorial Day Weekend in Madison, Indiana?
Friday May 27th Activities:
- Art of the Dress Exhibit at The History Center: From May 1st to June 30th, head to The History Center to admire the twenty-five textiles that will be on display. Some of these period pieces date back to the 1800s! Museum hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 10:00am – 3:00pm.
- Spring Old Court Days: from Friday, May 27th to Sunday, May 29th, make your way to the Courthouse Square to shop for handmade items, crafts, antiques, and collectibles from a variety of vendors. Don’t miss out on the delectable food selections! Get a lemon shakeup and steak tips while you peruse the booths to find the perfect keepsake or gift. Friday is from 11am – 6pm, Saturday is 9am-6pm, and Sunday is 10am-4pm.
- 10th Annual Riverfront Run Car Show & Concert: Walk along the beautiful riverfront to admire cars, trucks and motorcycles of all types. If you’re the proud owner of a hot rod and want to register to show your car, it’s $20 to register on the day of the event, and $15 to pre-register. The event goes from 8am-4:30pm on Friday and Saturday featuring a Veteran’s Memorial Service at noon on Saturday.
- Fourth Friday with Madison Main Street: Shops stay open late until 8pm, live music can be heard throughout Main Street, and maybe get a treat from a food truck! What better way to kick off an awesome weekend in Madison?
- LIVE MUSIC in Indiana’s Music City: Head over to Madison Music Movement’s website to checkout the weekend lineup!
- Ecstatic Dance Party: May 27 | 7-8:30pm | $20 | The evening will begin with some meditation and breath work, followed by DJ Courtney Youphoriafy leading the ecstatic dance session. Ecstatic Dance is a style of dance that is based on freeform movement in which people move their bodies in ways that feel good and aligned for them.
Saturday May 28th Activities:
- Rockin’ Thunder River Tours Season Opening: Rockin’ Thunder is back for another incredible season! This is the only Jet Boat tour of the Ohio and Kentucky River. With four tours to choose from, you’ll be in for a fun ride! Call for details and to schedule your tour: 812-701-1155.
- Enjoy Indiana’s Oldest Farmers Market Every Saturday! 8am-12pm | Shop all locally-owned and 100% producer-only vendors around the beautiful and historic Broadway Fountain.
- Cones and Crafts at Sallie’s: 11am | Bring the kids and get crafty at Sallie’s with Cara from Little Golden Fox! This event is perfect for young little artists! As it’s Memorial Day Weekend, Cara will instruct an America themed Ice Cream Cone painting class. The ticket price will also include one Patriotic Kids Sundae (1 kids scoop with syrup, red, white, and blue sprinkles, whipped cream, and a wafer cookie). All ages are welcome, recommended at least 3 years of age and up.
- Mayor’s Movies in the Park: DOUBLE FEATURE: Encanto followed by Jurassic Park! The City of Madison is excited to host another year of the Mayor’s Movie in the Park brought to you by Sedam Contracting. Shown at dusk in Bicentennial Park, the Mayor’s Movies in the Park is a family-friendly, FREE event for our community. So grab some blankets or chairs and bring a friend or two to enjoy these fun movie nights down by the scenic Ohio River. Public restrooms will be available.

- House of Jane Presents: A Celebration of Women Songwriters: May 28, 2022 | 5pm-10pm | FREE | The House of Jane is happy to host 6 women singer-songwriters for an evening of original music! The songwriters include Cheryl Liz Byers, Margo Sparrow, Charlsee Gandee, Amy Noel, Anna Kline, & Tiffany Williams.
