Madison’s Specialty Kitchen Shop is on the Move | The Pearl Plate

Do you have The Pearl Plate bookmarked on your agenda for your next trip to Madison? If not, you need to add it. Here you won’t just find kitchen tools and cookware—you’ll find unique gifts, eco-friendly cleaning products, cookbooks and heirloom recipe books, Indiana-artist-made ceramics, charcuterie boards, hand-blown glassware, and much more. Tyler, the shop’s owner, has curated a distinctive collection of quality products meant to make memories around a dinner table and to be passed on for years to come.

‘Making Their Way Downtown’ Main Street

For those that have visited The Pearl Plate in the past, you likely remember shopping at the very end of West Main Street across from the delicious Red Pepperoni. In April of this year, The Pearl Plate jumped at the opportunity to move to a new location at the opposite end of Main Street, now at 214 E Main Street. They wasted no time in giving the space a complete makeover and had their grand re-opening at the new location Memorial Day Weekend.

With this move, the shop plans to transition their product offering to hosting necessities to coincide with its future on-site cooking experience space. That’s right—the store has found a location that will offer both a storefront and the opportunity for cooking classes. This immersive experience has been Tyler’s dream from the very beginning, so it’s exciting to see it coming to life.

Although there is not a confirmed timeline for when this space will be up and running just yet, the cooking classes will kick-off, the remodeling is planned to start by the end of August with the hope to start offering of offering classes at the beginning of October of this year.

A Unique Madison Experience—Cooking Demonstrations

Because The Pearl Plate has been without the kitchen space to host cooking experiences, they have been hosting events off-site in some of the coolest spots in Madison, Indiana. In December of 2023, the Pearl Plate teamed up with highly-esteemed local chef Vanessa Lissette Felix-Goode to offer one-of-a-kind cooking demonstrations, the first of which was in the newly finished loft at The Chandler Hotel. This was also the public’s first opportunity to see this beautifully remodeled space. A few months later, the pair cohosted another demonstration at the 612 Mansion, yet another newly-renovated historic building. This building is only open to the public through booking a tour, so it was a unique opportunity for the community to visit historical property that adds to the charm of our small town.

Join Them for Their First Community Dinner on October 19th

The Pearl Plate is excited to announce that tickets are now live for their first ever Community Dinner Party on October 19th. This dinner is a collaboration with local restaurant Off Broadway Taproom, which is located just two doors down from The Pearl Plate’s new location. This farm-to-table-style dinner will take place in the beautiful alley near Off Broadway Taproom at 218 E Main Street.

Local chefs Gabby Hammersley and Nicholas Stitzel have created the four-course menu for the event and will also be presenting a cooking demonstration with products that can be found at The Pearl Plate. Ingredients used in the meal are from community farms to further elevate the experience and support our local farmers. There will be a beer pairing and cash bar, courtesy of Off Broadway Taproom, as well as live music played by local musician Cheryl Liz Byers. To end the night, guests will take the short stroll to The Pearl Plate for an hour of late-night private shopping.

It will be an event to cap off the warm summer season and surely a night you won’t forget. Tickets are being sold now with limited seating, so make sure to buy your tickets today (link below).
